1860s Owner of the Ystalyfera Iron and Tinplate. He persisted in keeping the iron works running as long as possible

1869 Described a new process to the Iron and Steel Institute for removing silicon from iron before puddling.[1]

1883 Death notice: 'At 44, Argyll-road, Campden-hill, W., December 9, Mr. James Palmer Budd, of Ystalyfera, J.P. and D.L. for Glamorganshire, aged 81'[2]
