Ultimate. Compound S-type piston valve steam roller. No 89543. Built 1943. Reg No: FJB 990.

This engine was fitted with the makers radial valve gear. It was built for export to the Union of South Africa but commandeered by the War Office. This was the penultimate Marshall convertible engine to be built.

It was sold to Ford and Sons, contractors of Berkshire in November 1949 for £100 in 'as new' condition and worked for 10 years. It was then acquired in the early 1970's by Doug Knight of Bodmin. Then it was bought in August 1999 by Terry and Valerie Axe of Constantine, Cornwall. This engine had done relatively little work compared with other engines. Its last log registration prior ro preservation was the 13th January 1961. In 2009 it was bought by Ian Burley and Family of Redruth.[1]
