1813 Fenton, Murray and Wood put a steam engine, boiler and paddle wheels in an old French privateer owned by John Wright. The boat plied for some years between Norwich and Yarmouth carrying 107 passengers. Later the engine and boiler were moved to another boat that worked the Medway
