Alvis: Scorpion

1969 Introduced as the world's first series produced aluminium bodied tank and designed to be air transportable and dropped by parachute. Overall weight was just over eight tons with a top speed of 50 mph and a range of 400 miles. The first version engine was a Jaguar unit
1973 First units entered service
1981 The RAF took delivery of 184 units
Later units used a Perkins turbo-diesel engine producing 155 bhp
