Research Organisation formed by Thomas De La Rue and Co, Powell Duffryn and others[1]

1945 Private company registered to undertake research into making substances of commercial and industrial value from coal, oil and other materials[2]

1946 Acquired suitable premises at Battersea

1947 The shares owned by De La Rue Plastics were acquired by Powell Duffryn[3]

By 1947 the organisation was solely owned by Powell Duffryn

Had developed a new carbon product which had great advantages in terms of manufacture and finished product; this was commercialised by Powell Duffryn Carbon Products

1947 Name changed to Powell Duffryn Research Laboratories Ltd; would work for all the companies in the Powell Duffryn organisation.

1950 All R&D work at Battersea was moved to Hayes[4]
