1815 April. Advertisement. 'For Hamburg, The Old Friend. Richard Cortis. Will sail in a few days. Hull, April 4th, 1815. Gee, Loft and Co'[1]

1816 February 14th. Marrige at Harewood, Captain Richard Cortis, of Hull, to Jane the daughter of Mr. Smithson of Brandon House, Shadwell, near Leeds.[2]

1820 February. Captain Richard Cortis, accepted as a 'younger brother' of the Trinity House, Hull.[3]

1827 December. Captain Richard Cortis of Hull writes a letter concerning the loss of 'The Minna'.[4]
