'Wednesday se'ennight, Ebenezer Roebuck, Esq; of London, a partner of the Carron Company and brother to Dr. Roebuck of Borrowstounness, unfortunately lost his life at Carron works, by a piece of cast iron 2½ tons in weight falling upon him. He was a gentleman universally loved and esteemed, for an inexhaustible fund of humanity and good nature. He has a wife in London, whom he left about two weeks ago, but no children.'
