1887 Richard Clere Parsons started a consulting practice; later in that year he went into partnership with the John Frederick La Trobe Bateman. Bateman's son-in-law Lee Latrobe Bateman also joined the partnership.
The consulting work was on works executed abroad, including the complete water and drainage scheme for Buenos Aires, and the preparation of a drainage scheme for St. Petersburg.
