Liverpool, Crosby and Southport Railway
The Liverpool, Crosby and Southport Railway was opened from Southport to Waterloo on July 24th, 1848, and from Waterloo to a junction with the Liverpool and Bury Railway at Sandhills on October 1st, 1850.
The Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway was opened from Walton Junction, near Liverpool, to Lostock Hall, outside Preston, on April 2nd, 1849. A branch from Ormskirk to Rainford was brought into use on March 1st, 1858. [1]
