Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Colne Railway
The railway was authorised in 1845, and under the same Act its amalgamation with the East Lancashire Railway was authorised. It was opened thus:
- Blackburn - Accrington, June 19th, 1848;
- Accrington- Burnley, September 18th, 1848;
- Burnley-Colne, February 1st, 1849;
The line from the East Lancashire Railway at Stubbins Junction to Arcrington was opened on August 17th, 1848. The Blackburn Railway was an independent concern, and was opened from Bolton to Blackburn on August 12th 1848, and from Blackburn to Chatburn on June 22nd, 1850. [1]
