Edward Noble Birch
Edward Noble Birch was born in 1891 and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, where he took his B.A. Degree.
He served throughout the 1914-18 War as a Commissioned Officer and subsequently took the Long M.T. Course at Aldershot, followed by a Works Course with Crossley Motors.
Thereafter he was in command of various M.T. units in the R.A.S.C. including the Heavy Repair Shops, ultimately reaching the rank of Lieut.-Col. During the present War he was posted for service in France and was killed at the evacuation of Dunkirk in May, 1940.
He was awarded the O.B.E. posthumously.
He was elected a Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1933.
