William Gilbert Lane
William Gilbert Lane was born in 1919 and at the outbreak of war was an Apprentice at Vauxhall; his technical education was received at Luton Technical Institute, where he was in the Final Year of the National Certificate Course.
He was killed in a flying accident whilst serving in the Royal Air Force on 9th September, 1940.
He was elected a Student of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1939.
