Charles Aird
1832 Charles Aird born son of John Aird (1800-1876)
1851 Charles was a drawing clerk[1] and was part of the John Aird and Sons company.
1850s Charles increasingly took responsibility for the gasworks side of the family business.
1877 The business was in serious financial trouble with the Nottingham and Melton contract for the Midland Railway, and Lucas Brothers had to rescue it. Charles Aird retired, leaving John Aird junior to continue with the Lucas brothers.
