Edward White Benson (1800–1843), chemical engineer and manufacturer

Born in Yorkshire

1826 Married Harriet Baker (d. 1850).

1830s Became manager of the British Alkali Works at Stoke, near Droitwich

1842 The business failed which proved a great strain on his father's health and he died the following year. The business partners gave his widow an annuity, as well as a small house within the deserted factory on Birmingham Heath.
