"GERALD HART JACKSON was associated with the electrical side of mechanical engineering throughout his career, practically all of which was spent in the service of the Northampton Electric Light and Power Co and associated companies. He was born in 1871 and educated at Norwich School. After serving his apprenticeship with Crompton and Company, Ltd., Chelmsford, from 1887 to 1892, passing through the shops and drawing office, he remained with that firm for another year and conducted steam trials. He then began a connexion with the Northampton Light and Power Co, which lasted for fifty-five years. He acted as assistant engineer for eight years, and was promoted to be chief engineer and manager in 1001 arid managing director in 1935. He retired in 1045 but retained on the board until the company was nationalized in 1948. Mr. Jackson had been a Member of the Institution since 1904 and was also a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. His death occurred on 14th March 1951."
