1886 Company formed to sell products from the American Electric Company.

1889 Laing, Wharton and Down announced that the part of their business related to the Thomson-Houston electric lighting system had been formed into a limited company Laing, Wharton and Down Construction Syndicate Ltd. All of the shares were privately subscribed[1].
