DANIEL EDWARD DARK was born in 1883 and served his apprenticeship with [J. and E. Hall|Messrs. J. and E. Hall, Ltd.]], refrigerating engineers, of Dartford and, later, with Messrs. Easton and Company, Ltd., of Erith. In 1904 he entered the drawing office of Messrs. Humpage, Jacques and Pederson, of Bristol, and subsequently held similar appointments with Messrs. Alfred Herbert, Ltd., of Coventry, Messrs. Vickers, Ltd. in Sheffield, and Messrs. J. and P. Coats, of Paisley.
In 1913 he received an appointment as draughtsman and engineer to Messrs. D. Gilson and Company, Ltd., of Walthamstow, and began a long association with that firm which was only terminated by his death, which occurred on the 23rd January 1942.
Mr. Dark was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1914.
