Ernest Leopold Payton of Austin

1877 January 11th. Born at Handsworth, Birmingham the son of Francis William Payton, a Broker in Stones, and his wife Bertha Hopley. They had children Ernest Stanley Payton, b. 1902, Kings Norton, Birmingham, and Beatrice Irene Payton, b. 1904, Kings Norton, Birmingham. He married secondly Elizabeth Gertrude Loach and had son John Austin Payton.

1941 Chairman of Austin until November 1945

1946 February 17th. Died aged 69 years. Of Orchard Farm, Broadway. Husband of Elizabeth. [1] Chairman of Austin and four other companies and a director of seven more. [2]
