Major Hector Tulloch (c1836-1922)

c.1836 Born in India

1853 Second lieutenant[1]

1855 Hector Tulloch, son of John Tulloch, married Sophia Jane Smith in Paddington[2]

1857 Promoted lieutenant

c.1858 Engaged in the Department of Public Works of the Madras Residency[3]

1862 Promoted Captain

1868 of Bangalore. Elected Associate of the Inst of Civil Engineers[4]

1872 Promoted Major, Royal (Madras) Engineers

1891 Major, Royal Engineers, living in Bromley with his wife Ada Tulloch 60, daughter Sophia Tulloch 29, Dorotha Tulloch 28, Harriet G Tulloch 24[5]

1896 the Board of Trade sent Major Tulloch to Paris to acquaint himself with motor-car traffic before setting itself to the task of preparing a set of rules for road traffic regulation in Britain.[6]
