With his wife Maria Horsfall (age 40 born Liverpool) and thier three children; Emmeline Horsfall (age 11 born Manchester); Thomas Coglan Horsfall (age 9 born Manchester); and Julia Horsfall (age 6 born Manchester). '... all persons having any claims or demand against the estate of William Horsfall, late of Great Bridgwater-street, in the city of Manchester, and of Bowden in the county of Chester, Cotton Spinner and Patent Card Manufacturer, deceased (who died on the 9th day of November, 1871, and whose will was proved on the 18th day of January, 1872, in the District Registry attached to Her Majesty's Court of Probate at Manchester, by Thomas Coglan Horsfall, Spencer Henry Bickham, and Tobias Theodores, the executors named in the stud will)...'[2]
