JOHN T. TANNETT, who died in January 1901, at the age of sixty-one, at West Burton, Aysgarth, was well known and esteemed in the industrial circles of Leeds.
He was a member of the firm of Smith, Beacock, and Tannett. His father, the late Mr. Thomas Tannett, of Roundhay Lodge, was one of the promoters of the famous tool-making business carried on at the Victoria Foundry, or, as it was popularly known, the "Round Foundry," in Water Lane, Leeds, and Mr. John Tannett himself was associated with the undertaking for many years.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1876.
