Thomas Comstive (1829-1886). British shuttle maker who founded Thomas Comstive Ltd. of Burnley
- 1829 Born in Burnley [1], son of William and Alice Cumstive.
- 1841 Lived at Old Mill, Habergham Eaves, Lancashire, with his parents, two brothers and a sister.[2]
- 1849 Founded the shuttle-making company Thomas Comstive Ltd.[3]
- 1851 Lived at 3 Peel Court, Habergham Eaves, with his wife Elizabeth and son James. Occupation: Shuttle Maker.[4]
- 1854 Patented an improved weaving shuttle.[5]
- 1860 NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, Thomas Comstive, William Comstive, and Joseph Comstive, as Manufacturers of Shuttles and Picking Sticks in Marsden's Foundry, Burnley, in the county of Lancaster, under the style of Thomas Comstive and Bros., has this day been dissolved by mutual consent; and that all debts due to and owing by the late copartnership will be received and paid by the said Thomas Comstive.— As witness our hands this 15th day of November, 1860.[6]

- 1868 All debts owed by James Ingham, shuttle maker (deceased) will be paid by Thomas Comstive[8]
- 1874 Appointed to board of directors of Cooper Brothers and Company Ltd.,[9]
- 1881 Lived at 2 Sefton Terrace, Burnley, with wife, daughters Isabella and Elizabeth, and his four sons, Thomas, William, Albert and Louis.[11]
- 1886 Died at home on the 6th of June[12]
