James Bracebridge Hilditch
James Bracebridge Hilditch (1843-1920) J.P., M.R.I., F.R.P.S., Assoc.Inst.C.E., a silk merchant and local politician in the Richmond area.
The son of artist George Hilditch.
of Yarrow and Hilditch; took part in the early development of steam launches on the river and mechanical transport on the road, steam cultivating machinery and the scheme for erection of the Richmond Tidal Lock and Weir.
Elected to Richmond Vestry in 1884, and to the successor Richmond Borough Council in 1890, serving as Mayor of Richmond in 1899-1900.
He was also a justice of the peace and treasurer of the Royal Richmond Hospital.
