William Taylor (of Nottingham)
William Taylor (1848- ) ironfounder and engineer.
1848 Born in Lenton, Notts, son of John Taylor, iron turner, and his wife Mary [1][2]
Educated at Beilby's Academy, Nottingham
1864 Started work for his father at John Taylor and Son, Midland Works, Nottingham.
1869 Married Jane Harris Laurence in Nottingham[3]
c.1870 became a partner in the firm
1871 Machinist, lived in Nottingham with Jane Taylor 22, John Harry Taylor 10 Months[4]
1883 Became a member of I Mech E
1885 of Midland Foundry, Queen's Road, Nottingham.
1891 Railway contractor, employer, lived in Carrington, Beeston, with Jane H Taylor 42, John H Taylor 21, mechanical draughtsman, Edith A Taylor 11, Eleanor M Taylor 17, Jennie E Taylor 15, Wm Herby Taylor 11, Ernest J Taylor 12, Chas Edgar Taylor 9, Ann L Taylor 7, Fred Taylor 4, Claude Taylor 3, Walter Taylor 9 months[5]
1895 With his brother formed Taylor Brothers
c.1896 Proposed for membership of the I Mech E but it seems that the proposal was refused, despite the protest of George D. Hughes, his supporter.
