Presumably started his business at Ipsden (near Wallingford) but soon moved to the Yield Hall Foundry, Reading

1822 Married Mary Mason in Reading[1]

1851 James Wilder 61, ironfounder, master, employing 30 men, lived in Reading with Mary Wilder 56, James Wilder 27, iron founder, John Wilder 25, ironfounder, Mary Wilder 23[2]

Took his sons into partnership
