1887 Charles Mattathias Jacobs opened a consulting engineers' office in partnership with Mr. Herbert Barringer, Member, under the title of Jacobs and Barringer

1898 Mr. Jacobs and Mr. Barringer prepared the plans and specifications and was awarded the contract for the Tredegar Dry Dock at Newport, Mon.

1919 The partnership continued until the death of Charles Jacobs.

Later became Jacobs, Barringer and Garratt.
