c1870 Goodall and Co started trading in lubricants, soaps and allied goods. T.W.G Bates worked for Goodall.
c1902 Bates, now owning all the shares in the company, registered as Goodall Bates & Co.is joined in the business by his two sons.
1924 operating from Forth Banks, Gateshead. Also at Albany Rd., nearby, which was consolidated as Albany Oil Works, Gateshead
1930 Merged with C and J Todd, also lubricants manufacturers, becoming Goodall, Bates and Todd Ltd.
1960 Acquired lubricants interests of Robert Frazer and Sons Ltd of Hedgeley Rd., Hebburn on Tyne. (Known for iron and steelworks lubrication)
1965 Acquired Henzell Oil Co Ltd. of Forth Banks. About this time began to market fuels under the "GB" brand. Company later changed its name to GB Lubricants Ltd.
1969-70 Hugh Bates (Proprietor) President of the British Lubricants Federation [1] also [2]
2017 Paterson Enterprises buys GB Lubricants Ltd, with the intention of maintaining operations in Tyneside.
