Elijah Scott
Champion cyclist from South Yorkshire and had 300 to 400 trophy's at one time.
1881 Living at 10 Mitchells Terrace, Wombwell, Yorkshire: Elijah Scott (age 12 born Mexbro) and in the house of his parents Elijah (age 40), a Coal Miner and his wife Sarah. Also his siblings. [1]

1895 25 mile champion of England at Fallowfield, Manchester
1896 was the champion cyclist of England and went to the International cycling championships in Cologne. He was leading the field for most of the run until two Dutch riders caught him up and he was on the floor with a broken arm.
When he went to Penge to ride for the Dunlop team he was one of four riders to be offered a set of Dunlop's new Pneumatic tyres to race with. He accepted them and never looked back. Many riders were afraid of them & turned away at the chance to use them
At one point he went to London to live & was a pacer for the Dunlop racing team

Elijah Scott. Born among the many coal mines of South Yorkshire born 1/8/1869 at Mexborough and he died 05/12/1940 a miner himself with a passion for cycling. His first bike had a frame made of bamboo. He proved himself so well that he was asked to be a pacer for the Dunlop racing team and the family all went to live in Penge, Surrey. At one time he had a new cycle shop in GT Houghton near Darfield selling bikes for the new rock cycle company & repairing them. In his riding career he always stuck to Raleigh bikes [4]
