Ernst Emil Donat (c1864-1939) of Donat and Doherty

Born the son of Robert Donat

1895 Married at Withington to Rose Alice Green

1901 Living at Withington, Lancs: Ernest E. Donat (age 37 born Russian Poland), Civil Engineer. With his wife Rose A. Donat and sons Philip and William.[1]

1911 Living at 20 St Paul's Road, Withington, Manchester: Ernst Emil Donat (age 47 born Poland, Russia), Civil Engineer, Commission Agent. With his wife Rose Alice and four sons.[2]

1939 'Robert Donat, the Liverpool Playhouse actor, who has since made a phenomenal success on the London stage and in the film world, has lost his father, who has died in his home Connecticut the age of 75. The father was Ernst Emile Donat, of Polish descent, who married a Yorkshire woman.'[3]
