Established in 1871 by Peter Esslemont (d. 1894) and William Macintosh ( d. 1913).
1914 Present Principals: George Birnie Esslemont, J.P., M.P., James Esslemont, J.P. Premises: Claim to have the most extensive Warehouses in the North of Scotland. Large Wholesale Department and Retail Department, equipped with up-to-date appliances. Staff: About 400. Specialities: General Drapery; the manufacture of Hosiery and Underclothing. 1919 Esslemont and Macintosh Limited was incorporated as a private company, with capital of £75,000.[1]
1940 A subsidiary, Esslemont and Macintosh (Retailers) Limited, was incorporated as a private company with capital of £5,000, to acquire and carry on the retail and general draper's and merchant's business and tearoom and restaurant.[2]
2006 Liquidators were appointed by the company, which by this time had changed its name to RHB Investments Limited.[3]
Records of the company were subsequently deposited in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Archives.[4]
