William Lambshead (1848-1932) of Deller's Cafe, Exeter, and at Paignton and Taunton.

Born the son of Samuel Lambshead (1817-1880)

1870 Married at Paignton to Elizabeth Ann Deller the daughter of Edwin Deller, a Grocer.

1911 Living at 1 Queens Park, Paignton: William Lambshead (age 63 born Newton Abbot), Manager of general Store. With his wife Elizabeth Anne Lambshead (age 65 born Paignton) and two sons Samuel Herbert Lambshead (age 30 born Paignton), Chemist (pharmaceutical), and William Lambshead (age 27 born Paignton), Manager of Cafe.[1]

We regret to announce the death on Saturday at his residence 1 Queen's Park Mansions, Torbay Road. of Mr. William Lambshead at the age of 84 years.

Deceased was a well-known business man and for many years a member of the Urban Council, holding the position of Chairman in the years 1898-99 and 1899-1900.

Mr. Lambshead was responsible for the erection of the magnificent Deller's Cafe in Torbay Road, Paignton, the first of its kind to be erected in the West. He was also responsible for the Paignton Picture House and the splendid block of business premises between the Picture House and the Cafe, with residences above and now known as Queen's Park Mansions. Mr. Lambshead was instrumental in the opening of another cafe on the Esplanade known as the Summer Cafe. Before entering into the cafe business he established Deller's Stores in Palace Avenue, which were later taken over by Messrs. Chard Bros.

Mr. Lambshead was Chairman of the Directors of Deller's Cafes Ltd. of Paignton, Exeter and Taunton, the Palace Hotel (Paignton) Ltd., and was also a director of the Paignton Electric Light and Power Co. Ltd., and the Paignton Harbour Co. Lad.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters (Mrs. Ramsay and Mrs. Body) and two sons, Mr. S. H. Larnbshead and Mr. W. Lambshead junr.
