David Goodwin (c1834-1898) of Coats Iron and Steel Co

Born at Irvine

1891 Living at 17 South Crescent, Ardrossan: David Goodwin (age 57 born Irvine), Ironfounder and Engineer. With his wife Elizabeth B., two daughters and two sons.[1].

1898 Died. 'The death has occurred at Ardrossan of Mr David Goodwin, long a member of Goodwins, Jardine and Co., of Motherwell and Ardrossan. Forty years ago the brothers Goodwin came to Ardrossan, where they soon succeeded in building up a prosperous business as ironfounders, but with the collapse of Goodwins, Jardine & Co., some years ago, their works there and in Motherwell passed into other hands. Mr Goodwin was aged 64.'[2]
