1922 William Albert White founded White's Oil Burning Company

Later that company was incorporated in White's Marine Engineering Company, Ltd.

The firm established new works at Hebburn-on-Tyne

1934 the cargo steamer Adderstone received White's system of high-speed high-pressure reciprocating engines, exhausting into a low-pressure turbine which was geared to the propeller shaft.

1962 ' White's Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. and White's of Hebburn (Engineers) Ltd. have recently embarked on a large programme of expansion. General Manager is E. J. Cole.'[1]
