ALBERT ALFRED JAMES, J.P., born in 1858, was a native of Dudley, where he was educated.
In 1886 he removed to West Bromwich and started in business as a wire-worker, in which he was very successful, and in recent years added the manufacture of springs.
In addition to his business, which was subsequently converted into a limited company and removed to more commodious premises, he was largely interested in the kinema, and was managing director of the Bournbrook Electric Theatre and the Balsall Heath Palace.
In public work he had for many years been a member of the Board of Guardians, occupying the chair for three years, and served on the Board of the Walsall and West Bromwich District Schools for some years.
He was appointed a magistrate for West Bromwich in 1906. His death took place suddenly at his residence at Edgbaston on 4th April 1924, in his sixty-sixth year.
He became an Associate of this Institution in 1897, and a Companion in 1922.
