1782 Company founded by the Darton family publishing children's literature.

1901 Produced a number of compilations of older stories, including reissues of 'The Seven Champions of Christendom' and many compilations of stories from Chaucer's 'The Canterbury Tales'.

1904 Frederick Joseph Harvey Dalton became a director of Wells Gardner, Darton and Co which he edited between 1901 and 1931.
