1851 Residing at 32 Thornton Road, Bradford: George Armitage (age 45 born Bradford), Master Stuff Dyer employing 257 men, 11 boys, 10 women and 2 girls. With his wife Jane and four sons Samuel Armitage (age 21 born Bradford), Dyer; John Armitage (age 17 born Bradford), Apprentice Woolstapler; George Armitage (age 5); and Charles Armitage (age 3). Also four daughters.[1].
