1841 Birth of son Samuel Symington

1898 Died. 'Mr. William Symington, Nithsdale, Market Harborough, the senior member of the firm of Messrs. W. Symington and Co., coffee factors. Bowden Steam Mills (father of Mr. J. W. Symington, West Bar, Banbury), died at his residence, Monday night week, at the advanced age of 89. Mr. Symington was one the "Seven men of Harborough" who started temperance work there in December, 1836; was the first sign the total abstinence pledge in Harborough, was elected the first president of the temperance society, and he retained the office to his death. Just 62 years. Mr Symington also was treasurer of the South Midland Temperance Association nearly sixty years ago. Mr. Symington experienced excellent health, though of recent years necessarily his age has told upon him. Early this was seized with paralysis, and gradually and quietly expired.'[1]
