1938 Stromness and District Auction Mart Limited was registered as a private company, with capital of £1,000, to conduct the business of the live stock auction mart in Stromness, formerly carried on by James Magnus Moar, auctioneer and merchant, John Street, Stromness.[1]

1954 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[2]
