Holmesfield Tannery, Howley, Warrington, Lancashire, established in 1867 by John Tattersall Cunliffe.
Feb 1886 - John Tattersall Cunliffe Limited incorporated with capital of £30,000 in £20 shares, to acquire and carry on the business of John Tattersall Cunliffe as tanners. Three directors appointed, John Tattersall Cunliffe (chairman), his son Frank Cunliffe (managing director) and another son, Walter Cunliffe (a solicitor in Liverpool).[1]
John Tattersall Cunliffe died 22 Nov 1887.
10 Mar 1899 Frank Cunliffe took his own life.
26 Jul 1899, motion to wind up John Tattersall Cunliffe Limited voluntarily was agreed at an EGM (Walter Cunliffe chairman).[2]
Union Tanneries (Company No: 62027) was incorporated as a Limited Company in 1899 and acquired Holmesfield Tannery.[3]
1914 Directors: Robert Harold Posnott and B. H. Tilston (Managing Directors); W. E. Walker, and C. E. Parker. Stall: Ninety. Speciality: Sole Leather.
19 Sep 1963 - motion approved at EGM to wind up Union Tanneries Limited voluntarily.[4]
