South Wheal Crofty Mine is in the parish of Illogan, union of Redruth, hundred of East Penwith, Cornwall; within the bounds of the manor of Tehidy, and duchy of Cornwall, and mining district of Camborne, from which it is one mile.

1850s The former large sett of East Wheal Crofty was sub-divided into North Wheal Crofty and South Wheal Crofty.
