Herbert Widdop of (c1872-1937) of H. Widdop and Co

Born the son of John Richard Widdop. Brother of Ernest Widdop

1911 Residing at Keighley: John Richard Widdop (age 60 born Ingrow), Manager of Tool Works. With his wife Sarah Jane, three daughters and sons [[Herbert Widdop), (age 39 born Ingrow), Gas and Oil Engine Maker - Employer; and Ernest Widdop (age 28 born Keighley), Manager of Gas and Oil Engine Works.[1]

1937 Died. 'Well-Known Keighley Engineer Mr. Herbert Widdop. of Vale Street, Keighley chairman of H. Widdop and Co., Ltd., Invincible Works, Keighley, died to-day, aged 63. For two or three years he had not enjoyed good health, but was at business up to last Saturday. Mr. Widdop, who was well known in engineering circles, was one of the pioneers in this country of Diesel engines for ships. He founded the firm of Widdop and Company 39 years ago, and since then has grown until it now supplies Diesel engines for ships all over the world. Mr. Widdop was a past president of the Keighley Association of Engineers. For a number of years he had been president of the Branshaw Golf Club, Oakworth, and had great deal to do with the development of the club. He was a member the Keighley Conservative Club and the Keighley Cycling Club, Always keenly Interested motoring, he was vice-president of the old Keighley Motor Club. Mr. Wlddop, who was a member of the Priory Lodge (4671) of Freemasons, Bingley, was unmarried.'[2]
