The mills are some of the oldest in the country. In the early part of 19th century had its own coinage.

1880 Established by Richard George senior.

Had the honour of having shawls purchased by H.M. The Queen.

1914 Principal: Richard George junior. Mr. George was an Alderman of the Llanidloes Corporation and three times Mayor.
