Alfred Ritchie (c1812-1879) of Ritchie and Co (of Stroud)

1879 Died. 'Our readers will hear with deep regret of the somewhat sudden death of Mr Alfred Ritchie, the senior partner in the firm of Ritchie and Co., cloth manufacturers, of the Ham Mills, Stroud. It will be in the recollection of many that a serious accident occurred to the respected gentleman some months since on the Gloucester platform; and though to outward appearance he regained his usual state of health, it is thought the shook he then sustained to the nervous system has never been thoroughly repaired. Lately Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie have been residing on the East Coast of England taking a holiday and rest. They returned on Friday last apparently invigorated and better for their outing. On Sunday evening last however Mr. Ritchie was suddenly taken ill...'[1]
