1889 North's Navigation Collieries (1889) Limited was incorporated, with capital of £450,000, 'to acquire and carry on the extensive and valuable freehold and leasehold collieries and ironworks, with the surface lands, coke-ovens, workmen's cottages, etc., situated in Glamorganshire and known comprehensively as North's Navigation Collieries'[1]
