1870 “The Machine Tunnelling Company (Limited) was formed in April, 1870, as a pioneer organisation, to prove the system and perfect the machinery of the Patent Diamond Rock Borer.” [1]

1870 Demonstrated rapid rock boring on the property of the Croesor United Slate Co, using Beaumont and Appleby's diamond boring apparatus.[2]

1872 A public company, the Diamond Rock Boring Co was formed to acquire the business of the Machine Tunnelling Co, [3]
