John Samuel White (1838-1915) Shipbuilder of J. Samuel White and Co.
1838 Born at Cowes, Isle of Wight, only son of John White, shipbuilder
Married Margaret Cooper of Northumberland
The yard became J. Samuel White and Co.
1864 John Samuel White had the idea of applying high speed engines to lifeboats. He collaborated with George Belliss of Birmingham to implement this, with work conducted at the Falcon yard in East Cowes[1].
1915 Died on the Isle of Wight
