John Platt (1817–1872) of Platt Brothers
1817 September 15th. Born the son of Henry Platt and his wife Sarah Whitehead
1837 Became a partner in the business
1842 March 9th. Married Alice Radcliffe (1823–1902), daughter of Samuel Radcliffe (1780–1838) of Lower House, who had been Oldham's leading cotton manufacturer.
