Harry Pick

H. Pick of Leicester, (1857 - 1941).
Cycle maker from 1880 until 1920c, his later models were named 'The President', using components bought from BSA, Raleigh and Lucas he then assembled modified and added components of his own design.
A catch phrase of the time which he used to sell his machines in and around Leicester and Leicestershire was : - anybody who was anybody rode a Pick Cycle.
N.B: Margaret Walton a surviving member of the Pick Family spent time researching the family history and it is from her booklet, A Scrapbook of Memories, that this information has been taken.
Harry, rode his bicycles until late in life and the machine shown in the image 'Harry's Pick Bicycle', bought at a Heathcote and Ball auction in Leicester in the late 1980’s was part of a lot which included artifacts and tools used by Mr Pick. Note; his trouser clips were still hanging on the crossbar. [1]
