Robert Munro Christie (1824-1873), gas engineer and founder of the Society of Engineers
1824 October. Born in Elgin, Scotland, the son of James Christie and his wife Janet Munro
1851 living at 40 Cottage Grove, Mile End Old Town Lower: Robert M. Christie (age 26 born Scotland). Civil Engineer. Also a visitor and a servant.[1]
1857 Listed as a director of the County and General Gas Consumers Co.[2]
1859 Married at Marylebone to Gertrude Platt. He is of King William Street and Albert Square, Clapham Road.[3]
1860 Chairman of the Society of Engineers. [4]
1863 Listed as a director of the Anglo-Parisian Brewery Co
1861 Visitors at 9 Belgrave Place, Brighton: Robert Munro Christie (age 35 born Scotland), Civil Engineer. With his wife Gertrude Christie (age 21 born London) and their son Robt M. Christie (age 7 months born London).[5]
1865 Mention as Robert M. Christie and Thomas G. Barlow, the eminent gas engineers
1873 August 16th. Died in France
