Benjamin Benyon
Thomas Benyon and Benjamin Benyon were successful wool merchants in Shrewsbury.
In 1790 they owned warehouses in the town and after ten years of activity, had earned £13,000.
1795 They were in close with John Marshall and the three men entered a partnership to finance a flax mill in Leeds. Marshall contributed £9,000 and the Benyons jointly provided the same amount.
1796 The mill was damaged by fire and they decided to construct Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury. In May, Charles Bage joined the partnership.
